Roy and Coral Parsons started Roy Parsons Marine Centre in 1971. From small beginnings as a part of Roy Parsons Auto Spares, the marine centre was built with the help of strong brands like Johnson Motors, Haines Hunter, Caribbean and Seafarer fibreglass boats also Dehaviland and Trim Craft aluminium boats in later years.

In 1980 the auto spares side of the business was sold and the remaining marine and trailer side was relocated from Ring st to the current address at 195 Byron st. At this time, the marine and trailer divisions of the business were expanded.

Roy and Coral grew the business employing many local people over the years. In 1994, Rod Dengate (Coral and Roys son in law) joined the business as a very raw mechanic. In this time Roy also joined forces with Quintrex. This combination of Quintrex boats and Johnson outboards saw the business thrive.

Unfortunately, Roy Parsons passed away in 1999 leaving a big hole in the business. With Rod finding his feet as a mechanic he was also passed the job of sales. This time also saw the demise of OMC the parent company of Johnson Outboards.

This saw a new era in the Roy Parsons Marine Centre story, when we had to leave the leading brand of Johnson outboards that Roy and Coral had worked so hard to promote and take on the Yamaha brand. These two brands helped the Roy Parsons Marine Centre team get through the next few years while they learned to run the business without Roy.

In 2005, Coral decided to sell the business to Rod and Karen Dengate.
As the owner Rod has found some great challenges. The most rewarding of those challenges is staff. He has seen some staff go overseas and interstate to further what they have learnt.

The staff we have love to see people happy and do their utmost to help you.
